Journal History
HABITAT is an agricultural socio-economic journal regularly published every four months by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya, since the 1990s (Volume. 1) in collaboration with PERHEPPI. HABITAT was initially incorporated into the Agrivita Journal of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya. In other words, HABITAT had the same scope or field of knowledge in terms of publications at the time. Until around 2010 (Volume. 21), HABITAT was separate from Agrivita journal. Since then, it has served as the journal of the Department of Socio-Economic, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya. In addition to focusing on agricultural socio-economic issues, this journal also displays research results and concepts related to agrarian, natural resource management, policy analysis on agricultural development, energy, and food.
From the early stages 1990 (Volume. 1) of the Habitat Journal's formation until 2010 (Volume. 21), publications were done manually, offline, and in print. However, starting in 2011 (Volume. 22), HABITAT tried to make all publication activities online through the Open Journal System by writing all published manuscripts in Indonesian and two versions of the abstract in English and Indonesian. HABITAT is published every April, August, and December. They publish online and print journals after they are issued through OJS following the editions published. Because HABITAT has just started a fully online publication and there has been a change in management, several things are not appropriately archived. One example is the publication document in 2011 (Volume. 22, Issue. 3, December) and 2012 (Volume. 23); there is a vacancy for publication. Then HABITAT started regularly publishing in 2013 (Volume. 24) to date.
Gradually, HABITAT made more improvements and perfections. Since 2016 (Volume. 27, Issue. 1, April), the Editor in Chief has decided to internationalize HABITAT by placing several full-length paper articles in English. Furthermore, HABITAT meets all standard requirements for international publications, such as journal indexation and journal writing templates. HABITAT also establishes a diverse editorial board or authorship, increases the number of published manuscripts for each edition, including publication ethics, disciplines focus or scope, conducts double-blind reviews for each article, and so forth. All the efforts made by the HABITAT editorial team have paid off. On June 30, 2017 (Volume. 28, Issue. 2), HABITAT was successfully indexed in DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals). HABITAT has changed the whole concept of publication to international standards.
